National Physician’s Day!

May 1, 2025

Dear Colleagues

Today, on National Physicians' Day, we celebrate and honour the remarkable contributions of family doctors, specialists, residents, and medical students across the Northern Health region. Your dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to patient care are critical to Northern Health in achieving its Mission and meeting the expectations that Northern British Columbians have of our publicly funded health care system.

May 1 and May 19 (BC Family Doctor Day) are days to reflect on the impact you have on the lives of individuals and the communities you serve. Each of you plays an integral role in delivering services that foster health and well-being and treat those in their most urgent time of need.

We acknowledge the physician led determination, creativity, innovative and collaborative efforts that have been instrumental in advancing health care in our region. Your ability to embrace new challenges, adapt to change and adopt innovative practices has been pivotal in maintaining services and enhancing the quality of care we deliver.

We also wish to express our appreciation for the ongoing partnership with the Doctors of BC, Medical Staff Associations and the Divisions of Family Practice across our region. Together, we strive to achieve shared goals, identify areas for improvement, and develop collaborative solutions.

We extend our heartfelt thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the positive impacts you make every day. Please take a moment to reflect on your incredible achievements and know how deeply appreciated you are by Northern Health and the communities you serve.

With sincere gratitude,

Dr. Ronald Chapman                                                Ciro Panessa                                    Colleen Nyce
